Current Reads
I have two books in the works right now.
The first one is Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hears and Our Minds by Jen Wilkin. This is the second book I've read by her, and I'm impressed. Typically I don't love books that are written specifically for women. In my mind they can be a little overdone, and I often struggle to relate to many of the topics (for example, I don't need a book to tell me to say "no" more; I already say "yes" too infrequently). Jen Wilkin is able to make Biblical doctrines relatable without sacrificing the deep truth of Scripture. I'm not very far in this book, but it's already given me a lot to think about, and I have a hunch that this could be a life-changing book.

I am also reading a novel, Birds without Wings by Louis de Bernieres. I ran across this book in a used bookstore and was attracted to it because of the cover (it happens to everyone). The subject matter intrigued me because it is set in early 20th century Turkey. I don't know about you, but I don't frequently read books set in Turkey. As a big fan of historical fiction, I decided to check it out. There are a ton of characters and the story is sweeping in its scope, so it may take me longer than normal to get through it, but I'm committed.
