Purpose
What are my goals for this blog?
First, I'm really hoping that those subscription book services will notice and send me free books each month. That's the dream right there.
Second, I've noticed that when I track the books I read, I do a much better job remembering the titles and authors. I used to be really bad at this, and I'm still not great at author names. I hope that by writing a little bit about some of my books, I will be able to remember the plot lines, the characters, and the quotes that struck me for much longer.
Third, I want to be able to recommend books to my friends and family. I think that writing down my thoughts or reactions to the books I read will help me better advise people on their next book choice. I think that keeping a blog will help me categorize books in ways that I haven't in the past (beyond loved, liked, hated, unsure how I felt, etc.).
Fourth, I'm a huge proponent of reading. I think everyone should read - it's good for you! Even if you don't LOVE it, which is fine, reading helps you be a better, more well-rounded, informed person. Who doesn't want that?
