Audiobooks
This weekend I attended a bachelorette weekend for one of my dear friends. The mountain house where we were staying was a 3-hour drive from my house, and while I love a good podcast, three hours is a lot of podcasts. So I decided to check out an audiobook from my library. I haven't listened to an audiobook in ages, but I've been hearing people talk about Audible, and I thought I'd give it a whirl. (I actually used hoopla, not Audible.)

I chose The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan. I thought the cover was gorgeous, and the story seemed interesting, too.
First impressions:
- The narrators were British which was great, but it took me a few minutes to get accustomed to the cadence of their voices. (I also hadn't realized that the book takes place in England.)
- Listening to a book takes much longer than just reading it silently to myself. This had pros and cons - it kept me entertained for all my driving and then some, but it also seemed to take forever for anything to happen in the story.
- I think that the way this story is told (multiple storylines, characters, perspectives, even genres) would actually be fun to read in print since you could distinguish between the various elements with different formatting choices.
All in all, I did enjoy listening to the book. The narrators were pleasant to listen to, and the story is sweet and wraps up nicely. I wasn't expecting the "magical" element, but the characters were interesting and I liked them.
